Lando Norris's LN4 Fusion team handed Formula 2 entry from 2027, replacing AIX Racing
The F1 champion's new junior outfit completes the 22-car F2 grid for the next three-year cycle, with Rene Rosin as team principal.
Lando Norris's junior racing team LN4 Fusion has been selected to compete in Formula 2 from 2027, giving the McLaren driver a direct stake in the final step of the ladder below Formula 1. The announcement this week confirms the new outfit will complete the 22-car F2 grid for at least the next three seasons.
Replacing AIX Racing
LN4 Fusion takes over the place held by AIX Racing, which ran in F2 this season. Norris co-founded the team in September with an investment group led by Dan Richards, and the group bought selected assets from AIX Racing as part of its launch.
F2 chief executive Bruno Michel said the championship had received strong interest from teams around the world for the new three-year cycle, and welcomed LN4 Fusion to the grid, saying it would bring considerable expertise.
Who will run the team
Experienced team boss Rene Rosin will serve as team principal, while Dan Hazlewood will oversee operations in the UK. Rosin is a long-time figure in junior single-seaters, which gives the new name immediate credibility in the paddock.
More than one series
F2 is only part of the plan. LN4 Fusion intends to race across several junior categories, with entries in Italian and German Formula 4, Formula Regional and Formula 3, as well as a separate testing process for a place in British F4.
A driver development programme will be run by ADD Management, the company that also manages Norris, with the aim of giving promising drivers financial backing on a possible route to F1. Norris is also personally funding a separate scheme, the LN4 Legacy programme, to help young drivers who might otherwise lack opportunities. When launching the team in September, he said LN4 Fusion was about building a team "that can compete with the best in junior motorsport".
Why it matters for F1
Drivers have backed junior teams before, but Norris is doing so as an active F1 driver and the most recent world champion. Norris won the 2025 title and is currently sixth in the 2026 standings on 211 points.
Formula 2 runs as a support series at F1 weekends, and its grid is closely watched by F1 teams. This season's title fight between Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov and new Haas recruit Rafael Camara shows how directly F2 now feeds the top tier. LN4 Fusion's arrival also adds another route for young talent at a time when funding remains one of the biggest barriers in motorsport.
Norris will be back in his day job this weekend at the Mexico City Grand Prix, although he is one of the drivers giving up his car in first practice to a young driver, with McLaren running Leonardo Fornaroli in his place.
