Asian Games 2026 Brings 11 Esports Medal Events to Aichi-Nagoya From September 19

The 20th Asian Games open in Aichi-Nagoya on September 19 and run to October 4, and esports returns as a medal sport with 11 events, up from seven at Hangzhou 2022.

The confirmed titles are League of Legends (Asian Games Version), Honor of Kings, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile (Asian Games Version), Pokemon UNITE, Identity V, Naraka: Bladepoint, eFootball, Gran Turismo 7, Puyo Puyo Champions, and a competitive martial arts event drawing on the Street Fighter, Tekken and King of Fighters series.

The lineup leans heavily toward Chinese and Japanese developers. Dota 2, part of the Hangzhou programme, is absent this time, with variable match length and broadcast scheduling widely cited as the reason.

Esports sits inside a wider Games featuring 469 medal events across 43 sports, with all 45 Olympic Council of Asia members expected to compete. Nagoya becomes the third Japanese host city after Tokyo in 1958 and Hiroshima in 1994, and the opening ceremony is at Paloma Mizuho Stadium.
