Eleven Esports Medals Across Thirteen Games at Aichi and Malaysia Have Entered Nine of Them
The esports programme runs from 23 September to 2 October at Aichi Sky Expo. Five of the Mobile Legends nations come from Southeast Asia.
Esports at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games runs from 23 September to 2 October at Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname. Eleven medal events, thirteen titles, around 31 nations.
The schedule is one or two titles a day. eFootball, with 24 teams, and Gran Turismo 7, with 16 entries, open on 23 September. Naraka: Bladepoint runs across the 23rd and 24th. The combined fighting-game medal, covering Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8 and The King of Fighters XV as a single event with fourteen entries, is on the 25th and 26th. Puyo Puyo Champions is a single day on the 26th, Pokemon UNITE on the 27th, Honor of Kings on the 27th and 28th, PUBG Mobile on the 28th and 29th, Identity V from the 28th to the 30th. Mobile Legends is on 1 October. League of Legends closes it on the 2nd with eight teams.
Hong Kong entered the most titles at ten. Malaysia and South Korea entered nine each. China and Japan are both absent from the League of Legends event, which is the strangest line in the entry list.
Mobile Legends qualification favoured Southeast Asia heavily. The Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Cambodia all came through qualifiers held at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore in June. Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Iran came out of West Asia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan out of Central Asia.
Sources disagree on whether eleven or twelve teams line up for Mobile Legends, which usually means a withdrawal nobody has announced.
