Bloomberg Reported That Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund Is Weighing a Merger of Electronic Arts With Savvy Games Group
Any deal is said to be unlikely before Savvy completes its six billion dollar purchase of Moonton, the studio behind Mobile Legends Bang Bang.
Bloomberg reported on 10 September 2026, in a story by Cecilia D'Anastasio and Dinesh Nair, that Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund is considering merging Electronic Arts with Savvy Games Group.
The fund acquired Electronic Arts in early August 2026 alongside Silver Lake and Affinity Partners. According to the report, a merger is unlikely to proceed before Savvy completes its acquisition of Moonton, a transaction valued at six billion dollars.
That detail matters in South East Asia, because Moonton develops and publishes Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, the title that anchors the region's largest franchised esports leagues in Indonesia and the Philippines. A combined company would hold Battlefield, Apex Legends, Pokemon Go and Pikmin Bloom alongside it.
Following the acquisition of Electronic Arts, David Tinson became chief operating officer and Cam Weber was named chief studio officer.
