An own goal, a Jayden Bogle header and strikes from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor put Leeds three points clear of their visitors in front of 36,693.
Leeds United beat Newcastle United 4-1 at Elland Road on 14 September 2026 in the Monday night game of the fourth Premier League matchday, watched by a crowd of 36,693.
The opener came in the 32nd minute, when a shot from Ao Tanaka deflected off Newcastle players and was recorded as an own goal by Lewis Miley. Jayden Bogle headed a second two minutes later and Dominic Calvert-Lewin made it three in first-half stoppage time. Noah Okafor added a fourth in the 59th minute before Bazoumana Toure pulled one back for Newcastle in the 90th.
Calvert-Lewin was booked in the 44th minute, with Jacob Murphy cautioned in the 54th and Tino Livramento in the first minute of stoppage time.
The result leaves Daniel Farke's side third in the table with two wins and two draws from four matches and no defeats, their highest position after four games since the 2000-01 season. It was Newcastle's first league defeat of the campaign and the first for Matthias Jaissle since he took charge. Newcastle were without Anthony Elanga, and Jaissle said he was injured, that the club needed to investigate further and that he would have another scan the following week.
