JJ Spaun Won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth by Two Shots as Manuel Elvira Double Bogeyed the Last
Rory McIlroy, Aaron Rai and Adam Scott tied for second with Elvira as the American closed with a 67 for his first DP World Tour title.
JJ Spaun won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth on 20 September 2026, closing with a 67 to finish on 17 under par and 271 strokes, two shots clear of a four way tie for second place.
Manuel Elvira, Rory McIlroy, Aaron Rai and Adam Scott shared second on 15 under. Elvira's challenge ended on the 18th hole, where he found a fairway bunker off the tee, sent his bunker shot past the green, chipped into another bunker and made a double bogey.
The victory was the American's first on the DP World Tour. Spaun said he had played with a huge chip on his shoulder after being left out of the Presidents Cup team, a decision he described as very disappointing. He collected $1,530,000 from a total purse of $9 million.
McIlroy shot a final round 68, with birdies at the 12th, 14th and 17th holes, but could not close the gap on Spaun. Scott and Rai, who had been among the leaders through the week, also finished on 273.
Ryan Fox, Matt Fitzpatrick, Joost Luiten and Filippo Celli tied for sixth on 14 under par. Ryan Gerard, who led by two shots earlier in the tournament, closed with a 71 and finished tied for 27th on 10 under.
