Travis Kelce Passed Jason Witten to Reach Second on the All Time Receiving List for Tight Ends
A fifty nine yard catch at Arrowhead took him to 13,067 career yards, on the night Patrick Mahomes returned from a torn knee ligament.
Travis Kelce moved to second on the all-time list for receiving yards by a tight end during the Kansas City Chiefs' Monday night meeting with the Denver Broncos at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on 14 September 2026.
A 59-yard catch in the third quarter took him past Jason Witten to 13,067 career receiving yards. Only Tony Gonzalez, on 15,127, is now ahead of him. It was Kelce's longest reception since a 69-yard catch against the Los Angeles Chargers in 2021, and longer than any catch he made across the whole of the 2025 season, when his best was 44 yards.
The game marked the return of Patrick Mahomes, playing for the first time since tearing a knee ligament in week fifteen of the 2025 season. He wore a knee brace, had not appeared in the preseason, and threw touchdown passes to Rashee Rice and Kenneth Walker III as well as running in a fifteen-yard score in the first quarter.
Walker, signed in the offseason, carried 23 times for 173 yards at 7.5 yards a carry, including a 60-yard touchdown run on fourth down. Bo Nix, back for Denver after breaking an ankle in the 2025 playoffs, threw a nineteen-yard touchdown to Evan Engram in the first quarter and was intercepted by the Kansas City rookie defensive back Mansoor Delane.
Denver went into the game as the reigning division champions and the top seed in their conference in 2025, having won three straight meetings in the series, while Kansas City had missed the playoffs.
