F1 Returns at Zandvoort on August 23 With Kimi Antonelli 50 Points Clear

Formula 1's summer break ends on August 23 with the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, a Sprint weekend that offers an extra set of points as the 2026 title fight resumes.

Kimi Antonelli takes the restart with a commanding lead. The Mercedes driver sits on 219 points after the Hungarian Grand Prix, 50 clear of Lewis Hamilton and 59 ahead of team-mate George Russell, with Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris next in the order. Norris won the most recent race at the Hungaroring. If Antonelli holds on, he would become the youngest world champion in the sport's history.

The lead is not as safe as the gap suggests. Mercedes reliability has not been perfect this season, and McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull are all bringing significant upgrade packages to the post-break races in an attempt to close down the early-season advantage.

Eleven rounds remain of the 22-race calendar, including Sepang's return in October for the first time since 2017. Max Verstappen's future is the other live storyline heading into the second half.
