Enric Mas Won the Vuelta a Espana to Give Spain a Home Champion for the First Time Since Twenty Fourteen
The Movistar rider finished two minutes fifteen seconds clear of Primoz Roglic, while Tobias Halland Johannessen won the final stage in Granada.
Enric Mas won the Vuelta a Espana on 13 September 2026, becoming the first Spanish winner of the race since 2014 and taking his first Grand Tour title.
Mas finished the three weeks in 73 hours 52 minutes and 55 seconds. Primoz Roglic was second at 2 minutes 15 seconds and Felix Gall third at 2 minutes 44 seconds. Richard Carapaz was fourth at 6 minutes 54 seconds and Sepp Kuss fifth at 8 minutes 45 seconds. The win was Movistar's first in a Grand Tour since 2019.
The final stage ran from Armilla into Granada over four city circuits, with the last lap of 9.8km neutralised for general classification purposes. Tobias Halland Johannessen of Uno-X Mobility won the sprint from a three-man break, ahead of Alessandro Romele and Ramses Debruyne.
Wout van Aert took the points classification and Santiago Buitrago the mountains classification with 78 points, ahead of Van Aert on 62. Oscar Onley of Great Britain won the young rider classification and finished sixth overall, and Decathlon CMA CGM won the team classification. Mas had taken the leader's red jersey after Tadej Pogacar abandoned following a crash on stage eight.
