Overwatch Champions Series Heads to China on December 2 After ZETA DIVISION's Paris Breakthrough
The 2026 season runs three stages across four regions before a World Finals in China. Twisted Minds are the reigning world champions, but ZETA DIVISION took the $1 million Midseason Championship.
The Overwatch Champions Series closes its 2026 season with World Finals in China on 2-6 December. It is the third and last of the year's international events, after Tokyo in May and the Midseason Championship inside the Esports World Cup in Paris.
How the season is built
Four competitive regions run in parallel across three stages: North America, EMEA, Asia and China. Asia is itself split into Korea, Japan and Pacific sub-regions that feed a unified Asia Stage Championship played online.
NA and EMEA each run open qualifiers into a six-team round-robin regular season with a top-four playoff. China uses an eight-team Swiss into a six-team round-robin and a four-team double-elimination bracket.
Stage prize pools are $75,000 per region in NA and EMEA, $30,000 of it to the winner. That is roughly $25,000 lighter per region than 2025. Partner teams are guaranteed a slot but face relegation risk if they finish outside the top four.
Paris changed the picture
The Midseason Championship was the OWCS event at the Esports World Cup, played in Paris on 29 July to 2 August for $1 million across 16 teams qualifying from Asia, China, NA and EMEA.
ZETA DIVISION won it, ahead of Twisted Minds, T1 and Weibo Gaming. Team Falcons entered on an automatic slot as the 2025 Midseason champions.
The reigning world champions are Twisted Minds, who won the 2025 World Finals at DreamHack Stockholm. Their second place in Paris keeps them at the front of the December conversation, but ZETA's win is the first evidence this year that the title is not theirs by default.
What is still unannounced
Blizzard has confirmed the World Finals window and the host country. The host city, venue, prize pool, team count and regional slot allocation have not been published, and the format post still lists seeding distribution as coming later. Anyone modelling December should treat the field size as open.
