Anke Kloepper and Hannah Sexton Beat Kelly Mallon and Silke Tulk to Reach the Queen of the Roads Final

The Cork course will crown its first new Queen of the Roads since 2008 after the pair who share 16 titles both went out on Friday.

Anke Kloepper of Germany and Hannah Sexton of Munster reached the Queen of the Roads final at Ballincurrig in County Cork on 18 September 2026, ending the hold Kelly Mallon and Silke Tulk have had on Irish road bowling's biggest women's title.

Kloepper beat Mallon with her last bowl, a shot down the left that deflected off the entrance to Moore's and ran on towards the school corner. Sexton was in control against Tulk and needed 15 shots to finish the score.

Mallon, from Armagh, and Tulk, from the Netherlands, hold eight Queen of the Roads titles each and had contested every final since 2009. A new champion will now be crowned for the first time since 2008.

Kloepper has won 29 German championships. Sexton also beat Dervla Toal-Mallon on her way through, while Hannah Cronin took the Gretta Cormican Cup earlier in the season to claim another place in the championship.

The 41st King and Queen of the Roads runs from 18 to 20 September at Ballincurrig, with both finals on Sunday. Aidan Murphy won the Mick Barry Cup on 16 September to reach the King of the Roads semi-finals, with Thomas Mackle taking the other place after finishing second in a three-way last-shot finish.
