Japan's Aiko Sugihara won the women's artistic gymnastics all-around gold at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on 22 September 2026, becoming the first Japanese woman to claim the title.
The 27-year-old scored 55.599 points to finish four-tenths clear of China's Ke Qinqin, who took silver with 55.199. Japan's Misa Nishiyama won bronze on 55.032, ahead of China's Zhang Qinqying on 54.732, North Korea's An Chang Ok on 53.566 and South Korea's Yeo Seojeong on 52.766.
Sugihara arrived in Nagoya with strong form, having won floor exercise gold and balance beam bronze at last year's World Championships as well as the 2025 Asian Championships all-around title. For Nishiyama, the bronze was a second major all-around medal of the year after she finished third at the Asian Championships.
The competition also decided the line-up for the women's team final, with Japan, China, North Korea, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Chinese Taipei all advancing, giving two Southeast Asian nations a place in the medal contest.
The men's and women's team finals were next on the gymnastics programme on Wednesday 23 September, followed by the individual apparatus finals later in the Games.
