Blizzard Opened Its Thirty Year Old Platform to an Outside Publisher for the First Time

Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher are coming to Battle.net, and a Geralt skin will be added to Diablo Four in a crossover announced out of the company's convention.

Blizzard announced on 14 September 2026 that games from CD Projekt Red will be sold on Battle.net, the first time in the platform's thirty-year history that it has carried a major outside publisher.

Cyberpunk 2077 comes to Battle.net during 2026, including the base game, the Phantom Liberty expansion and an ultimate edition bundle. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is already on pre-order there and releases on 29 September 2026.

The deal runs in both directions. A Geralt skin for the Barbarian class arrives in Diablo IV in 2027, free to anyone who buys or pre-purchases a new Witcher 3 expansion called Songs of the Past, which is listed on Battle.net now and also due in 2027. An Overwatch crossover with Cyberpunk follows in 2027, with skins drawn from the Edgerunners animated series and its sequel, though no heroes have been named.

CD Projekt Red said the Geralt skin is the first piece of Witcher-inspired content coming to Diablo IV and that more is in the works.

Battle.net has been Blizzard's own storefront and service since 1996. The announcement came out of the company's convention in Anaheim, where the slate revealed the previous day included Diablo 5 for the spring of 2029, an open-world StarCraft shooter for the spring of 2030, a Monk class for Hearthstone, a new Overwatch support hero and a World of Warcraft release on 4 November 2026.
