Red Bull Confirmed Isack Hadjar Would Return From Wrist Injury for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku

Liam Lawson, who deputised alongside Max Verstappen for three races and scored a best finish of sixth in Madrid, returns to Racing Bulls to partner Arvid Lindblad.

Red Bull Racing confirmed on 22 September 2026 that Isack Hadjar will return to the team for this weekend's Azerbaijan Grand Prix at the Baku City Circuit, after recovering from a wrist injury.

The French driver broke his wrist while training during the Formula 1 summer break and missed three consecutive rounds, in the Netherlands, Italy and Spain. Red Bull said he would "return to action at the Baku City Circuit on Thursday" after making a full recovery.

Liam Lawson was promoted from Racing Bulls to partner Max Verstappen during Hadjar's absence. The New Zealander finished seventh at Zandvoort, 14th in Italy and sixth in Madrid across his three-race stint, and Red Bull thanked him for his professionalism and hard work.

Lawson now returns to Racing Bulls, where he will again line up alongside rookie Arvid Lindblad.

The decision comes as attention turns to Red Bull's longer-term driver plans, with reports indicating the team is expected to finalise its 2027 line-up choices soon.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend begins at the Baku City Circuit on Thursday 24 September, with the race scheduled for 26 September 2026.
