Laver Cup 2026 Returns to The O2 on September 25 With Alcaraz Leading Europe Against Agassi's Team World
Nine editions in, Team Europe lead the series 5-3 but have lost three of the last four. London hosts for the second time, with 24 points on offer and 13 needed to win.
The ninth Laver Cup is at The O2 in London on 25-27 September, the arena's second time hosting after 2022. Yannick Noah captains Team Europe, Andre Agassi captains Team World, and the series sits at 5-3 to Europe with Team World having won three of the last four.
The scoring is the edge
Six players a side, five sessions across three days, four singles and one doubles per day where the schedule allows. Matches are best-of-three with a 10-point tiebreak in place of a deciding set.
Points escalate: a Friday win is worth 1, a Saturday win 2 and a Sunday win 3. There are 24 points in play and 13 wins the Cup; 12-12 goes to a deciding doubles.
That weighting is why a Friday lead means much less than it looks. Nine of the 24 points are on Friday and Saturday combined at the lower values, while Sunday alone carries 12. Team World's 15-9 win in San Francisco last year was built on the closing day.
The rosters
Team Europe: Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Casper Ruud, Flavio Cobolli, Jakub Mensik and Rafael Jodar.
Team World: Ben Shelton, Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz, Alexander Bublik, Learner Tien and Tommy Paul. Fritz and de Minaur are the only holdovers from the side that won in 2025, with Fritz having clinched that match.
Squad rules shape the pairings. Every player must play at least one singles across the first two days, nobody plays more than two singles all event, and at least four players per team must appear in doubles. That forces a captain to expose his lower-ranked names somewhere, and where he does it is the decision worth watching.
The context around it
The event lands the weekend after the ATP's Asian swing begins and shares a weekend with the Presidents Cup, so scheduling attention is split. It is an exhibition in ranking terms, which changes how players approach the third set but has not stopped the last three editions finishing inside two points.
