Global Esports Lost the Upper Final and Won the Reset in Busan and Paper Rex Went Out in the First Round
The VCT Pacific Stage 2 title went five maps, and Singapore's Paper Rex finished fifth-sixth but are in Shanghai anyway.
Global Esports beat Nongshim RedForce 3-2 in the VCT Pacific Stage 2 final at the Sajik Indoor Gymnasium in Busan on Sunday 6 September: Sunset 13-11, Split 13-2, Abyss 10-13, Lotus 5-13, Haven 10-13.
Nongshim had beaten Global Esports 2-1 in the upper final on 4 September, so this was the reset, and Global Esports won it from two maps down in the series.
The stage carried 250,000 US dollars. Global Esports took 100,000 and eight championship points, Nongshim 65,000 and six, T1 40,000 and five, VARREL 25,000 and four. Paper Rex and Gen.G shared fifth-sixth on 10,000 each.
Paper Rex, the region's flagship Singaporean organisation and the only tier-one Valorant team in Southeast Asia, lost 0-2 to Nongshim in the first upper-bracket round. They still reach Valorant Champions on accumulated championship points, alongside T1. Nongshim and Global Esports qualified directly.
Champions is in Shanghai: group stage at the Jing'an Sports Center, which holds 5,600, playoffs at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, which holds 18,000. Sixteen teams.
Shanghai is on the same clock as Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, so the whole event runs in regional evening hours.
