PARIVISION knock NAVI out of ESL Pro League S24 as FURIA and Spirit complete the playoff field
PARIVISION beat NAVI 13-11 on Mirage to reach the ESL Pro League S24 playoffs. FURIA and Spirit also won, setting up Friday's quarter-finals in Katowice.
PARIVISION knocked Natus Vincere out of ESL Pro League Season 24 on Tuesday, winning a tense 2-1 decider in Katowice, while FURIA and Team Spirit both swept their final Swiss-stage opponents to complete the eight-team playoff field.
The results set up a quarter-final day on Friday, 9 October, that includes a rematch between FURIA and MOUZ and a meeting of two recent rivals, Falcons and Spirit. The tournament carries a US$1 million prize pool, and the grand final is on Sunday.
PARIVISION end NAVI's run on a last-second defuse
NAVI went into the series against PARIVISION knowing a win would send them to the playoffs. They took the first map, Inferno, 13-8, but PARIVISION levelled the series with a 13-10 win on Cache. The decider on Mirage went down to the wire. PARIVISION led 8-4 at half-time, NAVI fought back to level the score, and the map ended 13-11 after Jame defused the bomb with almost no time left, according to HLTV's report.
Vladislav "xiELO" Lysov was the best player on the server, with 63 kills, 45 deaths and a 1.41 rating. For NAVI, Ihor "w0nderful" Zhdanov posted a 1.38 rating in a losing effort. HLTV noted it was the first time this PARIVISION roster had beaten NAVI, and the team's first event since Abay "HObbit" Khassenov joined permanently.
The defeat ends NAVI's Pro League campaign. HLTV's Major simulations still gave the team an 89% chance of qualifying for the upcoming Singapore Major thanks to their earlier results.
FURIA cruise past 9z as FalleN returns to the Spodek
FURIA needed only two maps to beat Argentina's 9z, winning Nuke 13-7 and Inferno 13-3. 9z took the opening pistol round on both maps but could not hold on. AWPer molodoy led the way with 36 kills against 14 deaths and a 1.94 rating. Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, who announced in April that he will retire at the end of 2026, added a 1.37 rating.
The win means FalleN gets one more chance to play in front of the Spodek crowd in Katowice, a venue where he has a long history.
Spirit bounce back to beat M80
World No. 1 Spirit, who had been stunned by 1win earlier in the event, beat North America's M80 2-0. Spirit won Dust2 13-6 and then came back on Cache from 4-8 down at half-time to win 13-10. Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov topped the scoreboard with a 1.43 rating, with Danil "donk" Kryshkovets and Boris "magixx" Vorobiev both on 1.36. M80 are eliminated.
Quarter-final schedule in Malaysia time (Friday, 9 October)
- 1win vs Aurora – 4.30pm
- Team Vitality vs PARIVISION – 7pm
- FURIA vs MOUZ – 9.30pm
- Falcons vs Team Spirit – midnight (Saturday morning)
FURIA lost to MOUZ in the Swiss stage, so they will be looking for revenge. The late match is perhaps the pick of the round. Falcons beat Spirit in the semi-finals of the IEM Cologne Major on their way to the title, but Spirit won the more recent meeting, a 2-0 semi-final at BLAST Open Porto.
HLTV pointed out that the top half of the bracket holds the two lowest-ranked teams left, 1win and PARIVISION, so one of them is guaranteed a semi-final spot. The semi-finals are on Saturday, 10 October, and the best-of-five grand final starts at 11pm Malaysia time on Sunday, 11 October.
