Liga Super: Sabah beat 10-man Terengganu 2-0 as DPMM's late double sinks Negeri Sembilan

Sabah ended a three-match winless run with a 2-0 win over Terengganu at Likas, while DPMM scored twice late to beat Negeri Sembilan 3-1.

Sabah FC returned to winning ways in the 2026-27 Liga Super on Saturday night, beating Terengganu FC 2-0 at Stadium Likas in Kota Kinabalu. A day earlier, Brunei-based DPMM FC struck twice in the final minutes to beat Negeri Sembilan 3-1 in Bandar Seri Begawan. The round continues on Sunday, 1 November, with second-placed Selangor in action tonight.

Sabah 2-0 Terengganu: quick-fire double settles it

The match at Likas was delayed by around 20 minutes because of heavy rain, but Sabah made a bright start once play began.

Spanish left-back Enrique Lopez Fernandez gave the hosts the lead around the 20-minute mark with a long-range effort that bounced awkwardly in the penalty area and beat Terengganu goalkeeper Suhaimi Husin. Five minutes later, Argentine winger Gonzalo Di Renzo doubled the lead with a low volley.

Terengganu's task became harder when naturalised striker Romel Morales was sent off, leaving them with 10 men. Sabah could not add a third, with Darren Lok sending a late chance over the bar, but goalkeeper Juan Flere made the saves needed to protect the clean sheet.

The victory ended a three-match run without a win for Juan Torres Garrido's side and lifted Sabah to fifth place on 10 points from six games. Terengganu, coached by Nafuzi Zain, are ninth with five points from six matches.

DPMM 3-1 Negeri Sembilan: late drama in Brunei

At Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium on Friday, DPMM went ahead in the 12th minute when Jordan Murray headed in from a long pass by Clark Robertson, beating the offside trap. Negeri Sembilan's Luqman Hakim Shamsudin levelled with a volley in the 34th minute, and the game stayed level for a long time.

DPMM finally found a winner two minutes from the end of normal time, when Dalberto Luan Belo scored from distance. Dalberto then turned provider in stoppage time, crossing from the right for Oscar Santis to make it 3-1.

The win moved DPMM to fourth place with 12 points from six games (four wins, two defeats). Negeri Sembilan remain eighth on five points.

Sunday's fixtures in Malaysia time

Two more Liga Super matches are scheduled today, Sunday, 1 November:

  • Penang FC vs Melaka FC, 5pm
  • Selangor FC vs Star City FC, 9pm at Stadium MBPJ, Kelana Jaya

Selangor, coached by Kim Pan-gon, are second with 15 points from five games, a maximum return so far. Leaders Johor Darul Ta'zim have 18 points from six matches, and they turn their attention to the AFC Champions League Elite, where they visit Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors on Tuesday.

Where things stand

A win for Selangor tonight would take them level with JDT on 18 points, although JDT would remain ahead if their goal difference stays superior.
