Eugenio Chacarra Wins DP World India Championship to Top Race to Dubai With Three Events Left
Spain's Chacarra closed with a 70 to win by two shots in New Delhi, his third title of 2026, and now leads Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy in the Race to Dubai.
Eugenio Chacarra has moved to the top of the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai with the season's finish line in sight. The Spaniard won the DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club on Sunday, 18 October, finishing on 21 under par, two shots ahead of Australia's Daniel Hillier, to claim his third title of 2026.
Holding his nerve in Delhi
Chacarra built his win with rounds of 67, 67 and a superb 63 on Saturday, which gave him a five-shot lead heading into the final day. Sunday was tougher. He picked up shots at two of his first three holes, dropped one at the sixth and had to hole several important par putts to keep his advantage.
A birdie at the 11th steadied him, but Hillier kept coming. The Australian's birdie on his final hole cut the gap to two with Chacarra still to play the last three holes. The Spaniard parred his way home for a closing 70 and a total of 267.
Hillier finished alone in second on 19 under. Poland's Adrian Meronk and Spain's Angel Hidalgo shared third on 15 under, and Tommy Fleetwood was part of a four-way tie for fifth on 13 under, alongside Gregorio De Leo, JC Ritchie and Joost Luiten. Robert MacIntyre and Tom McKibbin were among those tied for ninth.
A breakthrough season
The former LIV Golf player has been one of the stories of the European season. His win in New Delhi follows victories at the KLM Open in Amsterdam and the Italian Open in Turin earlier in the year, and he also won the Hero Indian Open in 2025, so India has become a happy hunting ground. "I know what I'm capable of," he said afterwards, as reported by Sky Sports.
Race to Dubai shake-up
The win lifted Chacarra to first place in the Race to Dubai on 4,092.89 points, ahead of Patrick Reed in second and Rory McIlroy in third. South Africa's Casey Jarvis and England's Aaron Rai complete the top five.
It was a quiet week for the two players directly behind him. Reed tied for 23rd on eight under, while McIlroy struggled to a final-round 74 and a share of 42nd place, 17 shots behind the winner.
What comes next
Three events remain in the DP World Tour season. The first is the Genesis Championship in South Korea, which starts on Thursday 22 October, just one hour ahead of Malaysia time, making it convenient viewing for fans in the region. McIlroy is not in the field.
After that comes the Abu Dhabi Championship from 5 November, followed a week later by the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, where the Race to Dubai title will be decided. With big points on offer in the final two events, nothing is settled yet, but Chacarra has put himself in a strong position.
