PARIVISION knock G2 out of ESL Pro League Season 24 as BetBoom and Legacy also exit Katowice

PARIVISION beat G2 2-1 to end their EPL S24 run at 1-3, while 9z and M80 eliminated BetBoom and an arT-less Legacy.

G2 Esports are out of ESL Pro League Season 24. PARIVISION beat them 2-1 in a 1-2 elimination match on Tuesday (6 October), ending G2's group stage in Katowice with a 1-3 record. G2 had reached the playoffs at each of their previous six events this year.

BetBoom Team and Legacy were also knocked out on the same day. 9z beat BetBoom 2-0, and M80 beat a Legacy side playing without their in-game leader.

PARIVISION win the decider on Inferno

The opening two maps were split. PARIVISION took Ancient 13-7, and G2 answered by winning Anubis 13-9. The decider on Inferno was much closer, but PARIVISION held on to win it 13-11.

Dzhami "Jame" Ali was the best player on the server, with a 1.35 HLTV rating and 55 kills. NertZ led G2 with a 1.25 rating. Their new signing, Artem "r1nkle" Moroz, had a tough series and finished on a 0.91 rating.

G2's campaign started badly and never recovered. Their only win in Katowice came against ShindeN, and their three defeats came against PARIVISION, 1win and Natus Vincere.

HeavyGod: the team must find out what went wrong

Speaking to HLTV after the loss, G2 rifler Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko accepted that the team had played well below their usual level. He said G2 needed to "check why our level was so low this event."

He also spoke about how hard it has been to bring r1nkle into the team in the middle of the season. The system and playstyle changes will take time, he said, and he would not put a date on when the new line-up would be fully settled. G2 now go home with extra practice time before their next event.

The early exit comes at an awkward time. In Valve's October world rankings, published on 5 October, G2 had climbed back into the top five after a strong month. This tournament gave them a chance to build on that ahead of the race for invitations to the PGL Singapore Major.

BetBoom and Legacy also go home

9z beat BetBoom 2-0 in the only clean sweep among Tuesday's elimination matches. BetBoom leave Katowice without reaching the playoffs.

Legacy's exit was harder to take. The Brazilian team, who rose to second in Valve's October rankings after winning FISSURE Playground 3, played M80 without their in-game leader Andrei "arT" Piovezan because of health problems. M80 won the series 2-1.

Winners face more elimination matches tonight
