Maybank Championship 2026: Miyu Yamashita defends title in KL as Mirabel Ting is top Malaysian again
Japan's Miyu Yamashita shot a final-round 68 to win the Maybank Championship by two shots from Yan Liu. Mirabel Ting was the best Malaysian for a third straight year.
Miyu Yamashita successfully defended her Maybank Championship title at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club on Sunday, closing with a four-under 68 to finish at 22-under 266 and win by two shots. China's Yan Liu was runner-up, while Mirabel Ting finished as the leading Malaysian at the LPGA Tour event for the third year in a row.
Yamashita holds her nerve
The Japanese world No. 4 began the final round two strokes clear and never let the advantage slip. She made birdies at the 3rd, 5th, 8th, 11th and 18th, with her only dropped shot at the 9th. Her four rounds of 65, 66, 67 and 68 added up to 266.
Liu, who had fired a nine-under 63 on Saturday to get into contention, also shot 68 on Sunday, including an eagle at the par-five fifth, but could not close the gap. Her 20-under 268 was her best finish on the LPGA Tour and her lowest 72-hole total.
The win, worth US$450,000 from a US$3 million purse, was Yamashita's third title of 2026 and her fifth LPGA win. She reached that mark in 46 starts as a member, the quickest by a Japanese player, beating Ayako Okamoto's 71. She has now converted every 54-hole lead she has held on the tour, and joins Hyo Joo Kim and Jeeno Thitikul as players to defend a title this season.

Mirabel Ting leads the Malaysian challenge
