Mujagic hat-trick fires Kuching City into Malaysia FA Cup semi-finals with 4-1 win over Kelantan City
Ajdin Mujagic scored three as Kuching City beat Kelantan City 4-1 to join JDT in the FA Cup last four. Selangor and KL City play their second legs on Sunday.
Ajdin Mujagic scored a hat-trick as Kuching City beat Kelantan City 4-1 at Stadium Taha Ariffin on Saturday 10 October to reach the semi-finals of the 2026-27 Malaysia FA Cup. The first leg in Kota Bharu had finished goalless, so the second leg in Kuching decided the tie. Johor Darul Ta'zim are also through after another big win over Penang, and the last two semi-final places were due to be settled on Sunday 11 October.
Kuching City 4-1 Kelantan City (agg 4-1)
Kuching City went ahead early through a Yuki Tanigawa header, and Mujagic doubled the lead a few minutes later. Kelantan City got back into it shortly before half-time when Muhamad Hadin Azman scored with a long-range shot.
The visitors had come to Sarawak hoping to keep the tie tight. Before the game their players had spoken about defending and taking it to penalties if needed. Mujagic ended that plan in the second half. He scored again midway through the half and completed his hat-trick about 10 minutes from time. Kosmo reported a crowd of 10,184.
The result fits Kuching City's strong season. Before the weekend they were second in the Liga Super with 12 points from five games, three points behind leaders JDT.
JDT cruise past Penang
JDT reached the last four on Friday 9 October with a 4-1 home win over Penang FC at Stadium Sultan Ibrahim, Iskandar Puteri. That made it 11-3 on aggregate after their 7-2 win in the first leg at Stadium Bandaraya in Penang on 20 September.
Bergson da Silva opened the scoring from the penalty spot. Nacho Mendez and Shahab Zahedi made it 3-0 by half-time, and Manuel Hidalgo added a long-range fourth in the 72nd minute. Stefano Brundo scored a late free kick for Penang.
JDT will play the winner of KL City against DPMM FC in the semi-finals. That leaves Kuching City to meet the winner of Selangor against Star City.
Selangor protect a 4-1 lead at MBPJ Stadium
Selangor host Star City in their quarter-final second leg at MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya on Sunday 11 October, kicking off at 8.30pm. Kim Pan-gon's side have a strong lead. They won 4-1 in the first leg in Kangar on 19 September, when Chrigor Moraes scored a hat-trick and Vitor Pernambuco added the other goal.
Kim has warned his players not to take the tie for granted. Star City have a lift of their own: forward Endrick dos Santos recently returned from three months out injured.
KL City and DPMM level at 3-3
The tightest tie is in Kuala Lumpur. KL City and Brunei's DPMM FC drew 3-3 in the first leg at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas on 20 September, and the second leg is at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras on Sunday 11 October.
In Brunei, Jordan Murray and Muhammad Farris Izdiham scored for DPMM. KL City replied through a Paulo Josue penalty, Muhamad Baqiuddin Shamsudin and Fareed Sadat. With nothing between the sides, the winner earns a semi-final against JDT.
