Dak Prescott Broke Tony Romo's Cowboys Touchdown Record as Dallas Beat Washington Thirty Seven Twenty

Washington lost quarterback Jayden Daniels to a dislocated left elbow on the last play of the first half, the same joint he injured last season.

Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes as the Dallas Cowboys beat the Washington Commanders 37-20 at AT&T Stadium on 20 September 2026, breaking Tony Romo's franchise record for career touchdown passes.

Prescott passed for 279 yards without an interception. His fourth touchdown, a 24 yard throw to CeeDee Lamb in the fourth quarter, was the 249th of his career, one more than Romo's 248. Lamb finished with 153 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and tight end Jake Ferguson also caught two.

Washington lost Jayden Daniels on the final play of the first half, when he was stepped on by his own left guard near the goal line and fell on his left arm. Daniels dislocated the elbow he injured last season and left the field on a cart. He had rushed for 69 yards and thrown a touchdown pass before the injury.

Marcus Mariota replaced Daniels and found Stefon Diggs for a touchdown that cut the deficit to 30-20 with 9 minutes left, but Prescott then led the drive that sealed the game. Dallas improved to 1-1, while Washington fell to 0-2.

Washington host the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks next week, while Dallas travel to Rio de Janeiro to face the Baltimore Ravens. In earlier Sunday games, Carolina beat Atlanta 34-3 and Minnesota beat Chicago 9-3.
