Wyndham Clark Wins the BMW Championship as the Tour Championship 30 and Six US Presidents Cup Places Are Settled

Clark closed on 17 under at Bellerive for a third win of the season and $3.6 million. Gary Woodland, Patrick Cantlay and Robert MacIntyre moved into East Lake; Rickie Fowler missed out.

Wyndham Clark closed with a 70 for 17 under par, 263, to win the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club on 23 August. It is his third PGA Tour win of the season and worth $3.6 million from a $20 million purse in a no-cut, 72-hole event.

Patrick Cantlay finished second on 14 under and Rory McIlroy third on 13 under. Collin Morikawa, Chris Gotterup and Gary Woodland shared fourth on 12 under.

The bubble broke three ways

The BMW is the last event before the Tour Championship, and the top 30 in FedExCup points is the cut.

In: Gary Woodland moved up to 18th, his first trip to East Lake since 2019. Patrick Cantlay climbed to 19th and Robert MacIntyre to 25th.

Out: Rickie Fowler finished 33rd, Kurt Kitayama 31st and Bud Cauley 34th, all three having entered the week inside the 30. Aaron Rai in 39th and Justin Thomas in 43rd also missed.

The FedExCup order into East Lake reads Scottie Scheffler, Matt Fitzpatrick, Wyndham Clark, Cameron Young and Si Woo Kim at the top.

And the Presidents Cup team took shape

The BMW also closed the automatic qualification window for Brandt Snedeker's United States team. The six who came through on points are:

Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Russell Henley and Collin Morikawa.

Clark's win moved him into that group. The two nearest misses were Chris Gotterup, who rose to seventh on the back of his share of fourth, and Ben Griffin, who started the week fifth and dropped to eighth after a T44.

Snedeker's six captain's picks are announced on Tuesday 1 September, after the Tour Championship. The Cup is at Medinah on 24-27 September.
