Key moments
The top match was the tightest. Canadians Conners and Taylor beat Scheffler and Burns 1 up, with the PGA Tour noting that Taylor's approach on the 18th finished just over two feet from the hole.
In Match 8, New Zealand's Ryan Fox holed his approach shot for birdie at the 16th, a moment the PGA Tour described as a major momentum swing, and he and Australia's Min Woo Lee went on to win 1 up.
The Korean duo of Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim produced the most dominant result of the day, beating Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele 4&3.
"We just tried to be relentless out there. Both hit a lot of quality shots, and Nick made some key putts," Conners said, as reported by Golf Channel.
A historic session
According to Golf Channel, this is the second straight Presidents Cup in which the International Team have swept the Friday foursomes, after doing the same at Royal Montreal in 2024. Golf Channel also reported that the four-point lead matches the Internationals' biggest-ever advantage after two sessions.
History gives the visitors some encouragement. The International Team's only Presidents Cup victory came at Royal Melbourne in 1998. The United States, meanwhile, are chasing an 11th straight win in the competition.
What's next
Saturday brings a double session of team matches at Medinah before Sunday's 12 singles matches. With 20 points still available, the tournament is far from over, but the United States now have plenty of ground to make up on home soil.
Because of the time difference, Saturday's play at Medinah will run from Saturday night into Sunday morning in Malaysia.
