Dota 2 stacks two sixteen-team events back to back through late September, and the Southeast Asian route is still unclear.
PGL Wallachia Season 9 runs in Bucharest from 17 to 27 September. Sixteen teams, one million dollars, with 300,000 to the winner.
BLAST Slam VIII follows almost immediately, in Malta from 29 September to 11 October, also sixteen teams, for 750,000 dollars.
Between them that is 1.75 million dollars across roughly three and a half weeks, which is a heavy autumn even by Dota 2 standards, and both events are in European time. Bucharest and Malta both play out overnight for Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
Southeast Asian qualifiers exist for BLAST Slam IX, the edition after this one, but no teams, dates or venue have been published for them. Anyone planning around SEA participation is working from an announcement and nothing more.
The scheduling is also awkward for players. Wallachia finishes on a Sunday and BLAST Slam starts two days later, which limits how much practice a roster can do between two very different formats and prize structures.
