Twenty Teams Go to Fort Worth Next Week for One Point Two Million and Only One of Them Came Through Asia Pacific
The Rocket League world championship runs 15 to 20 September at Dickies Arena, with TSM the region's sole representative.
The Rocket League Championship Series world championship is at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas from 15 to 20 September. Twenty teams, six stages, 1.2 million US dollars, with 300,000 to the winner.
One of those twenty came through Asia Pacific. TSM go in as the fifteenth seed and are the only representative from a region that spans Japan, Korea, Oceania and Southeast Asia.
That imbalance is structural rather than a one-off. Rocket League's competitive weight sits in North America and Europe, and the regional allocation reflects it. For Southeast Asian players the path to a world championship in this title is narrower than in any of the mobile titles, where the region either dominates or hosts.
It is worth setting against the other September events. The Free Fire SEA Fall finals are in Surabaya with four Global Finals places for the region. Mobile Legends is running three separate Southeast Asian leagues simultaneously. Rocket League sends one team.
Fort Worth is on US central time, thirteen hours behind Malaysia and Singapore. Evening matches in Texas land mid-morning the following day in the region, which is at least better than the European events.
