Thailand Swept South Korea Three Nil to Claim Women's Volleyball Bronze at the Asian Games in Komaki
Thailand bounced back from their five-set semi-final defeat by China, while China beat hosts Japan in straight sets to win a third consecutive Asian Games women's volleyball title.
Thailand won the women's volleyball bronze medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on 22 September 2026, beating South Korea 3-0 at Park Arena Komaki in Japan.
The Thais won 25-20, 25-19, 25-23, recovering from a 3-2 semi-final defeat by China a day earlier. South Korea had lost their semi-final 3-0 to hosts Japan. Head coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkrai fielded a line-up including captain Pornpun Guedpard, Thatdao Nuekjang, Sasipaporn Janthawisut, Pimpichaya Kokram, Chatchu-on Moksri and Kaewkalaya Kamulthala, with Kalyarat Khamwong at libero.
The medal was Thailand's third Asian Games bronze in women's volleyball. Under Thailand's National Sports Development Fund, bronze medallists receive 500,000 baht, compared with 2 million baht for gold and 1 million baht for silver.
In the final later the same day, China beat Japan 25-19, 25-20, 25-23 to win a third straight Asian Games women's volleyball gold and a record 10th title overall, repeating their straight-sets win over Japan in the Hangzhou final. China coach Zhao Yong said: "The players had the determination to win from beginning to end."
The result closes the women's tournament, with Thailand's attention now turning to the rest of their programme at the Games, which run in Aichi and Nagoya until early October.
