Yaroslava Mahuchikh Jumped One Metre Ninety-Nine in Budapest and Now Holds Every Major Prize in the High Jump at Once

The Ukrainian added the inaugural Ultimate Championship title to an Olympic gold, a world title and the world record she set in Paris.

Yaroslava Mahuchikh returned to the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, where she won the world title in 2023, for the high jump at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship on 11 September.

She cleared 1.99m to win. Nicola Olyslagers of Australia was second with 1.95m, while Olyslagers' compatriot Eleanor Patterson and Angelina Topic of Serbia shared third on 1.91m.

Broadcasters noted that the result made Mahuchikh the first athlete to hold an Olympic title, a world title, the world record and an Ultimate Championship title in the same event at the same time. Her record already included the 2023 world title, Olympic gold in 2024 and two world indoor titles.

Mahuchikh said she was proud to be in the history of world athletics, that this was the first Ultimate Championship and that she was the first Ultimate champion.
