Vietnam and Malaysia Were Drawn Together for the Asian Games League of Legends Event in Nagoya
Organisers did not seed the draw, so the winners and runners up from the previous edition were placed in the same four team group.
Vietnam and Malaysia were drawn in the same group for the League of Legends competition at the Asian Games in Japan, according to a draw published on 17 September 2026. The eight nation event is scheduled for 29 September to 2 October at the Aichi Sky Expo, two days before the Games close.
Group A contains Vietnam, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Group B has South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong and India. The competition uses a group stage followed by a four team knockout round.
Sheep Esports reported that the organising committee did not seed the draw, with the result that the champions and runners up from the previous edition, South Korea and Chinese Taipei, were placed together in Group B. South Korea have named a squad that includes Faker and Zeus, while Chinese Taipei call on the JD Gaming pair hongQ and JunJia.
Vietnam were described as the strongest side in Group A, with five players drawn from the Pacific league who have all qualified for the League of Legends world championship with their clubs. Hong Kong field a bottom lane of 1xn and Kaiwing, and the Saudi Arabian coaching staff includes the former Gambit support player Edward Abgaryan.
League of Legends is one of 11 esports medal events at the Games, which open on 19 September. The esports programme begins on 23 September with eFootball, Gran Turismo 7 and Naraka Bladepoint.
