Sixty Dogs Run at Daylesford Next Weekend and the Scores Will Not Be Published

The International Supreme Sheepdog Championship, first held in 1906, is at a Cotswold farm from 11 to 13 September.

The International Supreme Sheepdog Championship is at Daylesford Organic Farm near Kingham in Gloucestershire from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September. It has been run every year since 1906 apart from the two world wars and the years disease shut the countryside.

Sixty dogs qualify, fifteen from each of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, out of roughly 600 that start the process at national level. Thirty-two run on the Friday and twenty-eight on the Saturday. The best fifteen go through to Sunday's Supreme final.

The society has confirmed that Supreme scores will not be published this year. Placings are announced at the awards ceremony at five on Sunday afternoon and not before, which removes the running commentary that normally follows a trial and returns the result to the field it was won in.

Entry is ten pounds, free for under-16s and for members. Grandstand seats are sold separately. Gates open at eight. There is drystone walling, hedge laying, cidermaking, beekeeping and wool weaving going on around the trial, and dogs are admitted on a lead.

This is the first time Daylesford has hosted it, and the 120th year of the society that runs it.

The society's own event page still lists start times and admission prices as to be confirmed while the farm's page lists both. That is the ordinary condition of an event like this a week out, and the farm is the page to trust.
