Katsuragawa wins Genesis Championship as Yoshida claims first LPGA title in Korea

Japan swept Sunday's two big events in South Korea: Yuto Katsuragawa won the DP World Tour's Genesis Championship and Yuri Yoshida took the BMW Ladies Championship.

It was a Japanese double in South Korea on Sunday. Yuto Katsuragawa won the DP World Tour's Genesis Championship by two shots at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club, while Yuri Yoshida came from four strokes behind to claim her first LPGA Tour title at the BMW Ladies Championship. In both events, the overnight leaders were overtaken.

Katsuragawa holds on in Cheonan

The 28-year-old Katsuragawa set up his win with a course-record-equalling 63 in the third round. On Sunday he did not need anything spectacular. He shot an even-par 71 to finish at 13 under, 271, and even a tapped-in bogey on the last could not trouble his lead.

Frenchmen Frederic Lacroix (68) and Martin Couvra (69) shared second place on 11 under. A big group finished on 10 under, including halfway co-leaders Casey Jarvis and Antoine Rozner, Open champion Ryan Fox, Korea's Si Woo Kim and Sanghun Shin, Italy's Filippo Celli and Spain's Jorge Campillo.

The title is Katsuragawa's second on the DP World Tour and was worth more than €600,000.

Race to Dubai picture

The Genesis Championship was the last chance for players to earn a spot in the season-ending play-offs. South African Jarvis, a two-time winner in 2026 after the Kenya Open and the South African Open, went into the final day in second but closed with a 72 and missed out on a third title.

Eugenio Chacarra stays at No. 1 in the Race to Dubai after his win in India the previous week, even though he finished tied 22nd in Korea. Two events remain in the European season, in Abu Dhabi and then Dubai.

Yoshida's breakthrough at Pine Beach

At Pine Beach Golf Links in Haenam, Yoshida started the final round four shots back. An eagle on the par-5 second hole put her straight into the chase, and three birdies in a row from the fifth took her to the top. A 4-under 68 gave the 26-year-old a total of 17 under, 271, and a one-shot win worth US$352,500.

"It's a special moment for me," Yoshida said afterwards, adding that she had been nervous. She is the fourth Japanese winner on the LPGA Tour this season.

Heartbreak for Ryu

World No. 3 Haeran Ryu led overnight but could only manage a 73 and bogeyed her final hole to finish tied second with Hye-Jin Choi, who shot 69. It was still Ryu's 11th top-10 finish of 2026. Minsol Kim and Hyo Joo Kim shared fourth on 15 under, while defending champion Sei Young Kim tied for 55th.

Next stop: Kuala Lumpur

The BMW Ladies Championship was the second of four events on the LPGA's autumn Asian swing. The tour now moves to Malaysia for the Maybank Championship at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, before finishing the swing in Japan.
