BetBoom Moved Their Captain From Support to the Middle Lane and Brought Back a Former Player as Coach

Vitalie Melnic takes over in the middle after Danil Skutin announced an indefinite break, in a rebuild announced days before a million dollar event in Bucharest.

BetBoom announced a rebuilt Dota 2 roster on 14 September 2026, with the captain Vitalie Melnic, who plays as Save-, moving from the support role at position four into the middle lane.

He replaces Danil Skutin, known as gpk~, who announced the previous day that he was taking an indefinite break until the new year, citing mental and physical exhaustion and leaving open the possibility of a return. Georgij Zajnalabidov, who plays as swedenstrong, joins at position four.

The full line-up now reads Ilya Ulyanov at position one, Melnic in the middle, Matvey Vasyunin in the offlane, Zajnalabidov at position four and Vladislav Semyonov at position five.

Alexander Khertek, who competes as TORONTOTOKYO, returns to the organisation as coach in place of Anatolij Ivanov. He played for BetBoom between 2022 and 2024 as a position five, taking third place at DreamLeague Season 21, BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 and DreamLeague Season 23.

In its announcement the club said Melnic had wanted to try himself in the role for a long time, that it believed in him and was ready to support him in the new chapter. Moving from support to the middle lane is an unusual step at the top level, where the two positions demand very different skills.

The rebuild lands days before PGL Wallachia Season 9 in Bucharest, a sixteen-team event with a prize pool of one million US dollars and 300,000 for the winner.
