MIBR Beat Alliance on Inferno and Cache to Set Up an All-Brazilian Semi-Final Against a Side Twenty Places Above Them
Lucas nqz Soares and Felipe insani Yuji led a 2-0 win in Suzhou that puts the world number twenty-eight against the number eight.
MIBR beat Alliance 2-0 in the quarter-finals of Fissure Playground 3 in Suzhou on 11 September, winning Inferno 13-4 and Cache 13-9.
Lucas Soares, who plays as nqz, finished with a 1.48 rating and 35 kills. Felipe insani Yuji was close behind on 1.43 with 33 kills, including a triple kill on Cache, and Carlos venomzera Eduardo posted 1.42. MIBR built an 8-4 half-time lead on Inferno off the back of five consecutive rounds on the defensive side.
Alliance had reached the quarter-finals after an opening-day upset of FaZe, whom they beat 2-0 on Ancient and Nuke. FaZe went on to finish last at the event.
The win sets up an all-Brazilian semi-final against Legacy on 12 September. Legacy, who came through the group stage as one of the two teams awarded a quarter-final bye, are ranked eighth in the world; MIBR are twenty-eighth.
