Julio Cesar Scored in the Fifth Minute as Persib Bandung Won One Nil at FC Seoul in Champions League Two
The Indonesian champions defended their early lead for 85 minutes at Seoul World Cup Stadium, with goalkeeper Teja Paku Alam making several important saves.
Persib Bandung beat FC Seoul 1-0 at Seoul World Cup Stadium on 16 September 2026 in their opening match of the AFC Champions League Two group stage. The Indonesian club took all three points in Group E thanks to an early goal from defender Julio Cesar.
Julio Cesar scored in the fifth minute after a corner from Marc Klok, according to reports from Tirto, CNN Indonesia and 365Scores. Persib had the better of the first half and held 52 per cent of possession over the match, according to 365Scores.
The Korean hosts made several substitutions and pushed forward after the break, but Persib defended with discipline, CNN Indonesia reported. Goalkeeper Teja Paku Alam made a number of important saves. Klok missed a clear chance to double the lead midway through the second half, and Persib also hit the post late in the game.
FC Seoul finished with seven shots, four of them on target, while Persib had four attempts, according to 365Scores. Adam Alis was the only player booked in the match. The win gave Persib a strong start in a group that also includes Australian club Melbourne Victory and Vietnam's The Cong-Viettel, who had not yet played.
Tirto reported that Persib's next Group E fixture is at home to The Cong-Viettel on 14 October 2026. Elsewhere in the competition, Singapore's Lion City Sailors host BG Pathum United and Malaysia's Kuching City visit Phnom Penh Crown on 17 September.
