Aston Villa Won Three Two at Tottenham for Their First Premier League Victory of the Season

Tottenham scored their first league goals of the campaign but were still beaten at home, and many supporters left before the final whistle.

Aston Villa won 3-2 at Tottenham Hotspur on 19 September 2026 to record their first Premier League victory of the season and leave Roberto De Zerbi's side still waiting for theirs.

Johan Manzambi put Villa in front from close range in first half stoppage time after Tottenham had begun brightly without making their early pressure count. Nicolas Jackson doubled the lead midway through the second half and Emiliano Buendia made it three with a strike from 25 yards into the top corner.

Tottenham finally opened their league account for the campaign when a shot from Conor Gallagher deflected in off the Villa defender Matty Cash, and Jan Paul van Hecke headed a second late on, but the comeback arrived too late.

De Zerbi had sent on Mohamed Kudus at the interval in search of a reaction. It did not come quickly enough, and there was a mass exodus from the stands and a chorus of boos before the end. Manzambi was named player of the match.

The defeat leaves Tottenham without a win in the league and adds to the pressure on their manager, with an international break to come. Villa, who had taken only a handful of points from their opening fixtures, travel on after ending their own wait for three points.
