Zhang Yaling Won Women's Nanquan and Nandao Gold as Malaysia's Tan Cheong Min Took Bronze
China's Zhang scored nineteen point five six nine across both routines, while a slightly unsteady landing in the nandao left the Malaysian, a silver medallist in Hangzhou, in third.
China's Zhang Yaling won the women's combined nanquan and nandao wushu event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on 22 September 2026, with Malaysia's Tan Cheong Min taking bronze at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall in Nagoya.
Zhang scored 9.783 in the nanquan and 9.786 in the nandao for a total of 19.569. Uzbekistan's Darya Latisheva took silver with 19.413, made up of 9.703 in the nanquan and 9.710 in the nandao.
Tan scored 9.726 in the nanquan, the second-highest mark of the event behind Zhang, but her nandao routine was scored at 9.663 after she was slightly unstable on a landing. That left her on 19.389, just 0.024 points behind Latisheva.
The bronze was a step down for Tan, who won silver in the same event at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games. Her medal was Malaysia's third of the Games, and on the same day Adeola Fay Robert won the country's first gold in karate.
The wushu competition in Nagoya runs until 24 September. The women's jianshu and qiangshu and the men's daoshu and gunshu taolu events were scheduled for 23 September, while the sanda competition continues through to its finals.
