Team Liquid Released Danish Offlaner Ace a Year After He Helped Them Win Two Dota Two Titles
Former Team Falcons player ATF has been linked with the vacant offlane role after Liquid finished fifth to sixth at The International 2026.
Team Liquid parted ways with Danish offlaner Marcus "Ace" Hoelgaard on 13 September 2026, ending a one-year spell with the Dota 2 team following their exit from The International 2026.
Liquid announced the departure with a tribute video on social media, thanking Ace for a year of theory crafting and more trophies. Dot Esports reported that he joined in October 2025 and won two top-tier titles with the team, including BLAST Slam VI.
He also helped Liquid reach the top four at FISSURE Playground 2, three seasons of PGL Wallachia and DreamLeague Season 28. At The International 2026, Liquid finished 5th-6th after a 0-2 defeat by eventual champions Team Spirit.
Former Team Falcons player Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf has been linked with the vacant offlane role, although Liquid had not confirmed any signing. ATF has said the Falcons roster was fully disbanded after the tournament. Liquid's remaining lineup is miCKe, Nisha, Boxi and captain tOfu, with Blitz as coach.
The move was part of a busy post-International roster period. According to GosuGamers, OG parted ways with coach Adam "343" Shah on 12 September as they continue an overhaul following their 14th-15th place finish at The International 2026.
