JDT win 3-0 at Terengganu as DPMM fight back to beat 10-man Kuching City in Super League

Bergson, Oscar Arribas and Shahab Zahedi scored as Johor Darul Ta'zim won at Gong Badak, while DPMM came from 2-1 down to beat Kuching City 3-2 in Brunei.

Johor Darul Ta'zim strengthened their hold on top spot in the Malaysia Super League with a 3-0 win away to Terengganu FC on Sunday night. In Bandar Seri Begawan, DPMM FC came from behind to beat 10-man Kuching City FC 3-2 in a lively weekend contest.

JDT in control at Gong Badak

Terengganu were one of the few sides to take points off JDT last season, but there was no repeat at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium. The match kicked off at 9pm Malaysia time, and the Southern Tigers were ahead midway through the first half when Bergson da Silva found the net in the 26th minute, according to Bernama.

The lead doubled just before the break. Jorge Medina took a free-kick quickly and Spanish-born attacker Oscar Arribas finished in the 43rd minute to make it 2-0 at half-time.

Terengganu's penalty chance goes begging

The home side were handed a route back into the game in the 64th minute. Referee Razlan Joffri Ali pointed to the spot after Gervane Kastaneer was fouled in the box, but Mateusinho failed to convert the penalty and JDT's two-goal cushion stayed intact.

The visitors made sure of the points two minutes from time. Substitute Shahab Zahedi, set up by Arif Aiman Hanapi, scored the third. Zahedi also scored in last month's 3-0 win over Negeri Sembilan.

Bernama reported that the victory further cemented JDT's place at the top of the table, while local outlet Makan Bola noted it was only Terengganu's second league defeat of the campaign.

DPMM turn it round against Kuching City

The other standout result came at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, where DPMM and Kuching City shared five goals. Dalberto Luan Belo headed DPMM in front in the sixth minute, but Dylan Wenzel-Halls levelled with a free-kick before half-time and then put Kuching City 2-1 up three minutes after the restart.

The game changed in the 61st minute when Kuching City captain Petrus Shitembi received a second yellow card for a foul on Miguel Olivera. DPMM punished the visitors quickly. Azwan Ali Rahman equalised with a free-kick in the 64th minute, and two minutes later Dalberto scored again, this time from Olivera's pass, to complete the turnaround.

Kuching City pushed for a leveller with ten men, and Ajdin Mugajic headed against the crossbar in the 77th minute, but DPMM held on. Sarawak broadcaster TVS reported that Kuching City are third with 12 points from five matches, with DPMM three points behind them.

Why it matters

JDT's latest win keeps them moving smoothly through the early weeks of the 2026-27 season, while DPMM's comeback keeps them in touch with the chasing pack. For Kuching City, the defeat was a reminder of how costly a red card can be, having been in a strong position just after half-time.
