NRG Beat MOUZ Two One in Barcelona and Gained One Hundred and Twenty Nine Valve Ranking Points
The North American side lost Inferno 5-13 in between wins on Cache and Dust2, where they had led 8-4 at the change of sides.
NRG upset MOUZ 2-1 in the opening match of StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 in Barcelona on 17 September 2026, winning Cache 13-11, losing Inferno 5-13 and then taking the decider on Dust2 13-10.
The North American side led 8-4 at the change of sides on Dust2 and held off a MOUZ comeback after the break. HLTV reported that the win was worth 129 points on the Valve Regional Standings, a significant gain for a team chasing qualification for the next Counter-Strike Major.
Michael Wince, who plays as Grim, said the result mattered as much for morale as for ranking points. He told HLTV it was a great win and much needed for everyone's confidence, while adding that the team should have been further ahead on Dust2 and had lost several clutch rounds.
Wince also praised the returning Hakon Fjaerli, known as hallzerk, describing his new teammate as energetic and positive. He suggested MOUZ had found a route back on Inferno partly because NRG had played the map rarely against leading European opposition.
MOUZ dropped into the lower bracket, where they were scheduled to meet Natus Vincere on 18 September. NRG were drawn against Aurora in the upper bracket semi-final on the same day. The Barcelona event carries a 500,000 dollar prize pool and finishes on 20 September.
