Premier League 2026/27 Season: Key Dates, Fixtures, and What's Changed

The 2026/27 Premier League season is set to kick off on Friday August 21, with defending champions Arsenal hosting newly promoted Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium in the traditional Friday Night Football curtain-raiser. The campaign starts a week later than usual, giving players extra recovery time following this summer's World Cup.

Before the league gets underway, Arsenal will face FA Cup winners Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday August 16, with the traditional season-opener being staged at Cardiff's Principality Stadium.

Joining the top flight for 2026/27 are Coventry City, Ipswich Town, and Hull City, who secured promotion from the Championship, while West Ham, Burnley, and Wolves make the drop down after finishing in the relegation places last season.

The campaign is scheduled to run across 33 weekends plus five midweek match rounds, wrapping up on Sunday May 30 2027, when all ten final-day fixtures will kick off simultaneously and be broadcast live. That finish date leaves a week's gap before the Champions League final, scheduled for June 5 at Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Broadcasters have also confirmed that Sky Sports will again show a minimum of 215 live Premier League matches across the season as part of its current rights deal, continuing the heavy live coverage fans have grown used to in recent campaigns.
