Solheim Cup 2026 Lands at Bernardus on September 11 With Europe's Team Already Named and Four Rookies In It

The 20th Solheim Cup is played at Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt on 11-13 September, the first time the match has been staged in the Netherlands. The United States arrive as holders, and the arithmetic favours them before a ball is struck.

28 points, and two different targets

Days one and two each carry four foursomes and four four-balls; Sunday is 12 singles. That makes 28 matches for 28 points. Europe need 14.5 to win the Cup. The United States, as holders, need only 14 to retain it - a half-point edge that shapes how a captain plays a tight Sunday.

Europe are set, the US are not

Nordqvist's side was completed in early August. The eight automatic qualifiers are Lottie Woad, Charley Hull, Maja Stark, Celine Boutier, Esther Henseleit, Carlota Ciganda, Linn Grant and Nanna Koerstz Madsen. Her four picks were Leona Maguire, Julia Lopez Ramirez, Nastasia Nadaud and Mimi Rhodes.

That is four rookies in a 12-woman team, with Woad the highest-profile of them. Rookie count is one of the more reliable inputs into a Solheim price, and Europe are carrying a heavy one.

Angela Stanford's United States take nine automatic places - the top seven on the LPGA Solheim points list plus the top two on the world ranking not already through - and three picks. Qualifying ran to the CPKC Women's Open on 20-23 August, so the roster is only being finalised now. Nelly Korda clinched in July; Angel Yin, Jennifer Kupcho, Auston Kim, Allisen Corpuz, Yealimi Noh and Lauren Coughlin held the other points places late in the window. Stanford's assistants are Kristy McPherson, Paula Creamer and Brittany Lang.

The record

The United States lead the all-time series 11-7-1 across 19 editions since 1990. They won the 2024 match 15.5-12.5 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, Lilia Vu holing the half-point that settled it. The event moved to even years with that edition.

Bernardus has hosted the Dutch Open on the DP World Tour, so the field is not walking into an unknown course, but nobody has Solheim Cup history there.
