World Number Ninety One Aidil Sholeh Beat Singapore's Top Seed Jason Teh to Win the Vietnam Open
Thailand's Sarunrak Vitidsarn took the women's singles title, while Singapore's Terry Hee and Howin Wong finished as runners up in the men's doubles.
Malaysian independent player Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin won the Vietnam Open men's singles title on 13 September 2026, beating Singapore's top seed Jason Teh 21-16, 21-14 in 45 minutes at Nguyen Du Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City.
Aidil, ranked 91st in the world, overcame an opponent ranked 33rd to claim his first title of 2026 and his first at Super 100 level, having previously finished runner-up at the Indonesia Masters Super 100 II in 2024 and the Al Ain Masters in 2025. His last tournament win came at the Sri Lanka International Challenge in March 2025.
On his way to the final, Aidil beat China's Dong Tian Yao 21-18, 21-17 in the quarter-finals and Japan's Minoru Koga 14-21, 21-15, 21-17 in a 68-minute semi-final. He earned US$8,250 in prize money, while Jason received US$4,180, according to Badminton Planet.
There was success for Thailand in the women's singles, where Sarunrak Vitidsarn beat India's third seed Isharani Baruah 21-8, 21-15. Singapore's Terry Hee and Howin Wong lost the men's doubles final 21-14, 21-12 to top seeds Chen Zhi Ray and Lin Yu Chieh of Chinese Taipei, and Thai pair Phuwanat Horbanluekit and Fungfa Korpthammakit lost the mixed doubles final 20-22, 21-18, 21-19 to China's Ma Xi Xiang and Qin Hui Zhi.
South Korea's top seeds Kim Yu Jung and Lee Yu Lim won the women's doubles, beating China's Liu Jia Yue and Wang Zi Meng 21-17, 10-21, 21-14. The BWF World Tour resumes in October with the Arctic Open from 6 to 11 October.
