Buffalo beat Detroit 41-31 on Thursday night, 17 September 2026, in the first NFL game played at the Bills' new Highmark Stadium, with quarterback Josh Allen accounting for five touchdowns.
Allen threw for 248 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 69 yards and 2 more scores. He opened the scoring in the new stadium himself, taking the ball in from the 1-yard line on Buffalo's first drive of the night.
The Bills said Allen became the first player in NFL history to record at least 5 passing touchdowns and at least 3 rushing touchdowns through the opening two games of a season. Josh Palmer caught a 43-yard touchdown pass, Dawson Knox scored from 1 yard and Dalton Kincaid took a 16-yard pass among his 95 receiving yards.
Detroit were not out of it for long stretches. Jared Goff completed passes for 327 yards and 4 touchdowns, and Amon-Ra St. Brown caught 9 of his 13 targets for 142 yards and 2 scores. Buffalo edge rusher Greg Rousseau recorded at least 2 sacks for the second week running.
The win made Joe Brady the first head coach in Bills history to begin his tenure with two victories. Buffalo move to 2-0 and Detroit, who beat New Orleans 31-30 in overtime in week one, fall to 1-1.
