Ferrari name eight-driver 2027 academy as Alba Larsen becomes first confirmed for F1 Academy next year
Rafael Camara and Dino Beganovic leave the Ferrari Driver Academy, three newcomers join, and Alba Larsen is confirmed for a third F1 Academy season ahead of Austin.
Ferrari have reshaped their junior programme for 2027, confirming that Rafael Camara and Dino Beganovic are leaving the Ferrari Driver Academy and naming an eight-driver line-up for next season. The announcement on Friday, 16 October, also made Denmark's Alba Larsen the first driver confirmed for the 2027 F1 Academy grid, as she becomes the first to use a new rule allowing a third season in the all-female series.
Two graduates move on
Camara's exit is the programme doing its job. The Brazilian, who leads Formula 2, has been confirmed by Haas as a race driver for the 2027 F1 season, ending his time as an academy member.
Beganovic is also no longer part of the academy, but he is not leaving Maranello. The Swede stays with Ferrari as a development and reserve driver, sharing those duties with Antonio Giovinazzi.
The 2027 line-up
Ferrari's academy for next year covers every rung of the ladder, from karting to Formula 2:
- Tuukka Taponen: Formula 2, with ART Grand Prix
- Salim Hanna: Formula 3
- Niccolo Maccagnani: Formula 3
- Alp Aksoy: Formula Regional European Championship
- Filippo Sala: Formula 4
- Noah Baglin: Formula 4
- Alba Larsen: F1 Academy
- Daniel Miron: karting
Three of the eight are new signings: Colombia's Salim Hanna, Turkey's Alp Aksoy and 13-year-old karter Daniel Miron. Taponen, who finished third in this year's Formula 3 championship, steps up to F2 and becomes the academy's most senior junior now that Camara has graduated.
Larsen's third F1 Academy season
Larsen, 17, debuted in F1 Academy in 2025 in the Tommy Hilfiger car, scoring 10 top-10 finishes and earning a place in the Ferrari Driver Academy during that campaign. This year she moved into the Ferrari car with MP Motorsport and took her first series podiums with back-to-back second places at Zandvoort. She also won a race in British F4 this season.
F1 Academy normally limits drivers to two seasons, but a rule change announced last year lets drivers with strong potential for growth contest a third. Larsen is the first to be given that chance and will again race in Scuderia Ferrari colours in 2027. She said she is proud to be part of the series and has grown a lot over her two years in it.
Next stop: Austin
Larsen's 2026 season is not over. She sits fourth in the drivers' standings with two rounds left. F1 Academy's sixth round is at the Circuit of the Americas on 23-25 October, supporting the United States Grand Prix, before the finale in Las Vegas on 19-21 November.
