Indonesian Club RRQ Let Their Valorant Head Coach Jovi Explore Offers After a Single Difficult Season
Jovi was under contract until 2027 but RRQ granted his request after a year in which the team finished 13th to 16th in the Pacific.
Indonesian organisation Rex Regum Qeon allowed Valorant head coach Jovanni "Jovi" Vera to explore options for the 2027 season on 14 September 2026, after one year in charge of the team.
VLR.gg reported that Jovi's contract ran through 2027, according to Riot's Global Contract Database, but RRQ agreed to let him look elsewhere. He joined in the last off-season to replace long-serving coach Ewok, in his first head coaching role in the VCT.
RRQ struggled in 2026. They went 4-1 in the Stage 1 group stage but fell short in the playoffs, then were knocked out of Stage 2 in the Play-Ins after an 0-3 start, finishing 13th-16th in the Pacific region.
In a statement, Jovi said he was open to head coach, assistant coach or strategic coaching roles in any region, with a preference for Asia-Pacific, and noted that he speaks English and Spanish. He has coached in Valorant since 2021, with teams including 100 Thieves, OpTic Gaming and FlyQuest RED, and has guided two Game Changers teams to titles.
Dot Esports noted that RRQ had not named a replacement. The move is part of a wider wave of Valorant off-season changes, with PCIFIC parting ways with al0rante on 14 September and Enterprise Esports allowing MAGNUM to explore options a day earlier.
