Europe Have Not Won the Solheim Cup Since 2021 and Three of Their Four Picks Are Rookies
Twenty-eight points are on offer at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands from Friday, and the United States need only fourteen to retain.
The 20th Solheim Cup is at Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt, the Netherlands, from 11 to 13 September. Anna Nordqvist captains Europe, Angela Stanford the United States.
Twenty-eight points are on offer across five sessions: four foursomes and four fourballs on each of Friday and Saturday, then twelve singles on Sunday. Europe need fourteen and a half to win the cup. The United States need fourteen to retain it, having won 15 and a half to 12 and a half in 2024.
Europe took eight automatic qualifiers and four captain's picks, three of them rookies. The United States took nine automatic qualifiers and three picks.
On paper it is lopsided. The United States have nine players inside the world top 50; Europe have five inside the top 35, led by world number seven Lottie Woad. Nelly Korda won four LPGA titles in 2026 and a second consecutive US Women's Open.
The last three matches played in Europe finished by one point, one point and a 14-14 tie. Charley Hull makes an eighth consecutive appearance with fifteen match wins, more than any player before turning 30, and beat Korda 6&4 in the 2024 singles.
Friday foursomes start at twenty to seven in the morning UK time, which is twenty to two in the afternoon in Malaysia and Singapore.
