Malaysia Beat Mongolia Three Nil in the Asian Games Men's Team Badminton to Set Up a Quarter Final With Indonesia

Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin dropped only ten points in the doubles, beating their Mongolian opponents twenty one five, twenty one five.

Malaysia opened their men's team badminton campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games with a 3-0 win over Mongolia at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium in Aichi, Japan, on 21 September 2026.

Leong Jun Hao gave Malaysia the lead in the first singles, beating Batdavaa Munkhbat 21-13, 21-12. Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani then doubled the advantage with a 21-5, 21-5 win over Bishrelt-Erdene Odbayar and Battugs Bayarsaikhan.

Justin Hoh completed the sweep in the second singles, defeating Gerelsukh Jargalsaikhan 21-7, 21-5, so Malaysia did not need the remaining two rubbers.

Coach Rexy Mainaky said the tie had given the squad an opportunity to try out the venue and get a feel for the environment ahead of a much tougher assignment.

The victory set up a quarter-final against top seeds Indonesia on 22 September, the fourth day of competition and one of the most anticipated fixtures for the Malaysian contingent in Japan.

Malaysia went into the Games with a target of six gold medals and 33 medals in total. Elsewhere on 21 September, the Malaysian men's 4x200m freestyle relay team broke the national record in finishing fifth in their final.
