Bournemouth won 2-1 away to Real Sociedad on 17 September 2026 in the Europa League, the first victory in European competition in the club's history.
Justin Kluivert put the visitors ahead in the 11th minute at the Reale Arena in San Sebastian and Rayan headed a second in the 20th. Sergio Gomez pulled a goal back for the Spanish side in the 57th minute.
Bournemouth might have gone further ahead when Evanilson's header struck the post. Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic then kept the lead intact in the closing stages, denying Orri Oskarsson twice as the hosts pressed for an equaliser.
Manager Marco Rose said the performance reflected how his team want to play, describing it as being active and front-footed and playing forward, while acknowledging that they had to suffer in the second half. It was his first win of the season.
The club were in the fourth tier of English football and in financial difficulty 18 years ago. Elsewhere on the night, Crystal Palace beat Lech Poznan 4-0 on their own Europa League debut and Besiktas beat Marseille 4-1 in Istanbul.
