WEC title showdown at Monza: Toyota crews fight for the crown in Mike Conway's farewell

The 2026 WEC season ends at the 6 Hours of Monza, where Toyota's No.8 leads the No.7 by 17 points and three titles remain undecided.

The 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship comes to a close at the 6 Hours of Monza this weekend, and the Hypercar drivers' title will be settled between two Toyota crews. The No.8 car of Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa leads the sister No.7 of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries by 17 points. It is also the last race of Conway's professional career.

How Monza became the finale

This was not the original plan. The calendar was reshuffled twice after the conflict in the Middle East. The Qatar round was cancelled and replaced by the series' first visit to Barcelona, and Monza took over from Bahrain as the closing round. Both Barcelona and Monza are six-hour races with a maximum of 25 points for the winner, unlike the Gulf events, which had bonus points.

Toyota have already secured the Hypercar manufacturers' title, but second place is still open. BMW are on 154 points, Ferrari on 130 and Cadillac on 118, according to Pit Debrief.

The Hypercar drivers' maths

The No.8 Toyota trio have 114 points, the No.7 crew 97. With 26 points available, including one for pole, the No.7 needs a near-perfect weekend and help from elsewhere. The FIA WEC says a top-five finish is enough for the No.8 to take the title regardless of what the No.7 does.

Conway's retirement adds an emotional layer. He could still win a third drivers' title if the No.7 overturns the deficit. Hirakawa, meanwhile, has been busy this autumn: he stood in for Haas at the Mexico City Grand Prix while keeping his WEC commitments.

LMGT3 fight is wide open

In LMGT3, the No.33 TF Sport Corvette leads the teams' standings on 92 points. The No.92 The Bend Manthey Porsche is 18 points behind, Racing Team Turkey's No.34 is 22 back and Team WRT's No.69 is 26 back, so four cars arrive at Monza still in the hunt.

The drivers' title is also close. Edgar of the No.33 Corvette leads on 92 points ahead of Catsburg on 88, with the Manthey trio of Shahin, Pera and Lietz further back on 74.

The field and Ferrari's home push

The provisional entry has 35 cars: 17 Hypercars from eight manufacturers and 18 LMGT3 cars from nine makes. Alex Quinn replaces Stoffel Vandoorne in Peugeot's No.93 for the final rounds, and Robert Kubica races Ferrari's independent No.83. Ferrari, after a difficult title defence, are chasing a home win at the Temple of Speed.

Malaysia viewing times

The race starts at 11am CET on Sunday 8 November and finishes at 5pm CET, which is 6pm to midnight in Malaysia. Hypercar qualifying and Hyperpole are on Saturday 7 November from 3pm CET, or 10pm MYT. Every session is streamed live on FIAWEC+.
